Phoebe and Sam grew up together on Nantucket Island, and by the time they were young teenagers, their crush for each other was in full swing. One day, Sam went to his mother with a plan and a request to skip a couple days of classes so he could visit Phoebe at her off-island boarding school. His mother didn’t let him skip a couple of days, but she did agree to let him skip one day.
So, on February 15, 2008, Sam boarded the ferry, hopped on a bus, and made his way to Phoebe to ask her out on a date for the very first time. She said yes!
Over the next eleven years, Phoebe and Sam stood by each other’s side through life’s ups and downs, waited patiently and lovingly for each other to tackle career dreams that forced some long distance chapters into their relationship, and believed that their love for each other would be enough to carry them through.
It certainly did! With those career goals reached, Sam asked Phoebe to marry him and she answered, “yes,” just as she had many years before.
Despite moving to the mainland in pursuit of their dream jobs, Phoebe and Sam knew that it only made sense to get married where their love for each other first began – Nantucket Island!
With the beautiful island as their inspiration, Phoebe & Sam’s wedding design used a color palette of whites, greys, blues, and greens highlighting Nantucket’s iconic landscape of blue waters, green grasses, and grey shingled homes with white trim.
The day before their wedding, after finishing a round of golf with his dad and brother, Sam reminisced about how he had grown up watching dozens of wedding tents set up over the years at the golf club of which his family were members. But, this time, the wedding tent was for him and his beautiful bride, Phoebe. It was finally his turn.
The next day, the weather forecast called for severe and damaging thunderstorms. Despite the dreary predictions, nothing could dampen the excitement felt by Phoebe and Sam as they prepared to tie the knot. As they had always done, Phoebe and Sam remained hopeful that their plans would work out. And they did! The storms held off.
Phoebe and Sam exchanged handwritten vows and declared their love for each other in a beautiful outdoor ceremony performed by a dear family friend, under a lush floral archway, surrounded by their family, their friends, and a mystical blanket of fog.
Their special day oozed with sentiment in heirloom details as Phoebe wore her grandmother’s garter and their floral adorned wedding cake was placed atop a cake stand Phoebe’s brother crafted just for the occasion using a beam from their childhood home.
Sam is known among family and friends as “the man with a plan.” Little did his friends and family know at the time, that his plan to visit Phoebe and ask her out eleven years ago was perhaps his life’s greatest plan. What Sam set into motion that day was nothing short of magic. And that’s exactly what Phoebe, Sam, their families and their friends gathered to celebrate on their wedding day – June 29, 2019.
As always with wedding planning, it takes a team of wonderful vendors to bring these magical celebrations to life. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of the vendors who helped make this wedding possible!
